ANI International Campus
Australian National Institute’s international campus is located in Red Cliffs in north/western Victoria, 15kms south of Mildura.
The town forms part of the region known as Sunraysia. As its name suggests, the area enjoys more annual sunshine hours than the Gold Coast in Queensland. Cool in winter and warm/hot in summer, it is the perfect climate for the production of fresh and dried grapes, premium wines, citrus and cereal crops for which it is renowned.
Sunraysia’s environment is a welcoming one. The majority of the people are of a European background and English is the spoken language of most of the population. The area has always accepted people from non-English speaking countries, with many people having migrated in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. The past 10 years has seen considerable multi-cultural growth in the region.
Red Cliffs itself is a quiet country town, with a population of approximately 4600 people. Its name derives from the colouration of the 70-metre cliffs to the east of town which rise up from the banks of the Murray River, the water source and lifeblood of the district.
Living in another country allows you to sample a culture different from your own and there is no better way to learn a language than to live amongst it. Participating in community events and socialising with local people is a perfect way to experience their way of life and to expand your learning beyond the classroom. International students are accepted as part of the Red Cliffs community and can participate in recreational and sporting activities, if they wish.
Red Cliffs has many shops and facilities. There are two supermarkets, two banks, a post office, a newsagency, sporting clubs, a swimming pool, retail shops and eating houses. Students can walk to the shops at break time if they wish to purchase items.
