Apprenticeships and Traineeships

Work-based Apprentices / Trainees
There are many advantages to having a skilled and productive workforce, the most important of which can be an improved bottom line.

Government training incentives are available to employers looking to up-skill their existing workforce or employ additional staff.

Australian National Institute works closely with Sunraysia Murray Group Training (SMGT), a member of the Group Training Australia Network.

The Group Training Scheme makes it easy to take on apprentices and trainees. SMGT acts as the legal employer and leases out the apprentice or trainee to the Host Employer. This means the Host Employer is relieved of the burden of administration, recruitment, payroll, WorkCover and the like.

SMGT works with ANI to arrange training and will monitor the progress and skills attainment of the apprentice or trainee throughout the Training Contract.

Training and assessment methods are flexible and may involve workplace, on-the-job or block release, however it is mandatory that Host Employers allow apprentices and trainees withdrawal from work to attend their training.

School-Based Apprentices / Trainees
Australian School-based Appenticeships and Traineeships are also available. This gives students an opportunity to commence an apprenticeship or traineeship during years 10-12, with the qualification credited towards their VCE or VCAL.

School-based apprenticships and traineeships are flexible and offer students the chance to earn money and gain a vocational education and training qualification whilst pursuing their secondary schooling. This gives them a great head start for their future career.
